Entain has seen a striking increase in betting activity for the Women's World Cup as the international women's athletic tournament nears its conclusion this weekend.
The rise of female bettors on women's football is a noteworthy trend, according to Entain's UK sportsbook.
According to the UK's Ladbrokes and Coral brands of Entain, women put an average of 21% of the wagers throughout the first three England matches. This represents an improvement of 17% from the Women's Euros in 2022 and 13% from the most recent World Cup in 2019.
The co-hosting nations, where the event is being held for the first time in the southern hemisphere, are also experiencing an increase in female wagerers.
Nearly 15% of bets recorded by the platform were placed by women, according to data from TAB New Zealand, an official sponsor and partner of Entain. This is an increase from 9% in 2019.
Additionally, the co-hosts have seen a general increase in Women's World Cup betting activity. TAB This year's competition witnessed a startling 365% rise in wagers placed in New Zealand, while the Matildas (the Australian Women's National Team) outstanding advancement led to an almost 200% increase in wagers in Australia.
In comparison to Lionel Messi's Inter Miami CF debut, BetMGM stated that three times as many wagers were placed on the US women's team's initial match.
Football has the highest volume of wagers in women's sports, according to a study co-funded by Entain and carried out by IBIA, with an annual growth rate of roughly 20% since 2020.
The largest Women's World Cup in history is taking place this summer, and interest in women's sports is expanding globally, according to Dominic Grounsell, CCO of Entain. More of our clients are using bets as new methods to cheer on their favourite teams.
